Dear Securities Litigation Committee Members:
The Securities Litigation Committee is proud to announce the formation of a new subcommittee devoted to issues facing senior investors and vulnerable clients. The Senior Investor and Vulnerable Client Subcommittee will be devoted to covering litigation, arbitration, and regulatory developments impacting seniors and other at-risk investors. The subcommittee will be chaired by Melissa Acayan, Compliance Counsel for Raymond James; Jonathan Brennan, Principal at Jonathan Brennan PLLC; and Lawrence Fenster, a Principal at Bressler, Amery & Ross.
“As the population continues to age, more and more clients will be facing issues associated with diminished capacity and financial exploitation,” said Acayan, “and as trusted professionals, we must be prepared to serve this growing class of investors.” “Given the increased regulatory and market focus on senior and at-risk investors, this is an important and timely issue,” said Brennan. According to Fenster, “It is important for the legal and regulatory community to address the ever-widening issues resulting from the significant rise in elder abuse and exploitation claims throughout the country.”
